The BETA Pathway Team:

Dyan Hill-Dennard, Digital Video Technology

John Johnson, Business Entrepreneurial

Nicholas Wright, Computer Science & Gaming Design

The BETA pathway teachers provide the instruction in the real-world application courses that the students choose as their "major" for the final two to three years of the program. These teachers bring academic credentials, industry certifications, and real-world work experience to the classroom, which facilitates learning to prepare our scholars to compete in the 21st-century workplace. Instructional delivery includes using a mix of theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on activities to teach scholars about business planning, financial management, marketing strategies, digital content creation, broadcasting, and the use of technology in business. We guide scholars through real-world projects, such as developing business plans, launching mock startups, creating digital media content, and producing broadcasts and business simulation software to provide experiential learning opportunities.

The CTE Instructors:

Lynn Ostrander, ostranderly@pcsb.org

Taisja Witherspoon, WITHERSPOONT@pcsb.org

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor plays a crucial role in preparing our scholars for specific careers by providing practical skills and knowledge. Our CTE instructors use hands-on activities, demonstrations, and simulations to provide practical experiences that mirror the workplace.
